1. Smeg BCC02

The design was created by Milan-based company Deep Design, this sleek compact and striking machine combines the distinctive retro style of the brand with cutting-edge technology. This machine handles all stages of making coffee starting from grinding beans, the tamping of a puck and texturing milk to dispensing the right amount.

bean-to-cup coffee machines  features an attractive brushed aluminum front and comes in a choice of black, red or taupe, so it'll easily fit into the majority of kitchen designs. The machine is not without faults however. Many reviewers felt that it was a bit expensive for a cup to bean maker (and does not come with an ice cube).

However, there were plenty of glowing reviews of the quality of the coffee and the ease of use of this machine. The digital display provides feedback and step-by-step directions throughout the entire brewing process that will help you make your drink perfect each time. It will even alert you to alter the grind size if not quite right. It's like having a personal barista at home (minus Elon Musk's rocket building skills and Harry Potter's invisible cape).

If you like milky drinks this model comes with an adjustable steam wand that can be adjusted upwards and downwards to fit most drinking vessels short of a Viking's drinking horn. We were also awed by the speed and efficiency with how the frothing was accomplished. It produces an amazing, full-flavoured espresso with a fantastic crema.

The BCC02 is a fantastic all-rounder that's quiet, efficient and provides great value for money, especially at its current price of PS499. Its only real drawback is the fact that it doesn't provide the same level of customisation like some of the other bean to cups we've evaluated. It's got a 15-bar pump instead of the common 19 bar that aren't as efficient for producing quality espressos. Other than that, this is a fantastic bean to cup machine for those who like their coffee strong and black. Click here to view Lavazza's fantastic deal.

2. Melitta Barista TS Smart

The Barista TS Smart is a fantastic bean to cup machine with numerous features that make it stand apart from the rest. Its most distinctive feature could be that it can now be controlled from your smartphone with the Melitta Connect App. This lets you alter the settings and then dispense different coffee recipes that are stored in the machine.

This makes the machine very flexible and adaptable to suit your preferences. There are a variety of options for varying the strength of your drinks and also different sizes of cups, and whether or not you want to add milk. The machine has two airtight bean containers that automatically select different specialities. The machine will default to using standard espresso beans and cafe creme, a German variant of flat white or long black. However, you are able to choose any beans you like. There is also a chute that can be used for pre-ground beans if you want to use your own.

The users have also been awed by the speed of the machine. They've said that it can make their drinks faster than other machines they've used. The machine also alerts you when one of its hoppers is nearly empty. This means that you won't be able to drink your favorite beverage.

The price may be a problem for some. This machine is not inexpensive, with prices that are close to PS999. It is still cheaper than comparable Jura machines that have similar features.

Barista TS smart is backed by a generous two-year warranty. This is more than the typical one-year warranty, which is a good sign of confidence from the manufacturer. It also includes a cleaning tablet and a descaler, making it simple to keep on top of the machine's needs for maintenance. This is a great machine for those who want to buy a high-quality, multi-functional bean to cup machine at an affordable price.
